When will you mail my order?

We mail seed packs twice each week. We mail greeting cards within two weeks of your order date. Arrival depends on Canada Post’s estimated delivery times and your location.

I tried to place an order but something went wrong. What should I do?

If you're having trouble with the purchase process:

I haven't received a confirmation email for my purchase. Did my transaction work?

If you've completed the purchase process but didn’t receive a confirmation email within 24 hours, first check your spam folder for an email from the David Suzuki Foundation ( If your confirmation email isn't there either, call us at 604‑732‑4228 ext.1500 (toll free in Canada: 1‑800‑453‑1533 ext.1500) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time or email We’ll be able to confirm whether your purchase was successful.

It's long past the date you promised to put my order in the mail and I haven’t yet received it. What can I do?

Yikes! We're sorry your order hasn't arrived! Please contact us immediately by calling 604-732‑4228 ext.1500 (toll free in Canada: 1-800‑453‑1533 ext.1500) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time or email so we can resolve your situation. We'll need the email address you used when you placed your order.

Will I get a tax receipt for my purchase?

You should receive a confirmation email but, as a charity, we can't issue tax receipts for store purchases. If you made a dollar donation, you should also receive a confirmation email. We’ll send you a tax receipt by mail. You should have it within six weeks.

What is your return policy?

As a charity, we are unable to incur changes in revenue from this type of program, so all sales are final. We cannot accept returns or provide refunds or credits.

How do you determine prices?

Greeting cards and seed sales are part of our annual fundraising effort. Through our years of experience, we've chosen price points that are accessible to many people and that will maximize the vital funds we need for our work.

How does the David Suzuki Foundation use sale proceeds?

Your purchase will support all the important projects and campaigns we undertake throughout the year, including:

  • Promoting clean energy solutions and energy conservation to address climate change
  • Helping Canadian cities protect green spaces, promote transit and create pedestrian- and cycle-friendly transportation options
  • Working with citizens, constitutional experts and lawmakers to secure the right to a healthy environment in Canada
  • Preserving nature by restoring and protecting landscapes, waterways and species across the country

What plants are best for my area?

In our store you can buy wildflower seed packets selected for planting in Western Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan) and Eastern Canada (New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec). 

Why should I plant wildflowers?

Flowers provide nectar and pollen to feed beneficial bugs such as bees and butterflies. They also supply places for butterflies to lay their eggs and for caterpillars to forage. Clumps of colourful wildflowers blooming in your garden from spring to fall help feed and shelter local and migrating species.

Why should I plant native plants?

The soil and climate of a region help determine what plants and animals live there. Native plants have evolved over millennia. They provide vital food and shelter for native insects and wildlife, and are perfectly suited to local growing conditions.

How do I grow my seeds?

Find planting instructions on the back of each seed pack.

What else can I do to help butterflies and bees?

Butterflies and bees need food (nectar and pollen) from wildflowers. They also need habitat for nesting and to lay eggs. Wild bees, such as bumblebees and mason bees, make their homes in cavities, such as hollow branches and stems, and in the ground. To boost your backyard wild bees, leave patches of bare ground and piles of twigs and brush. Butterflies and moths host and feed on a variety of common wildflowers. Leaving space for natural wildflower meadows is best.

What is the Butterflyway Project?

A Butterflyway is a loosely connected corridor of wildflower patches through a neighbourhood. From a butterfly’s perspective, it’s a highway of habitat! Since launching in 2017, the David Suzuki Foundation’s Butterflyway Project has empowered residents in communities across the country to transform neighbourhoods, one fun event at a time. Greeting cards

You're an environmental organization. Why are you selling paper cards?

Many people enjoy the connection made with a physical card sent through the mail or hand-delivered. Our paper cards and envelopes have the smallest ecological footprint possible. They’re produced by local vendors using FSC-approved, 100 per cent post-consumer recycled paper. And we only buy from suppliers that use environmentally sensitive methods and materials.

I like certain designs in the different sets. Can I mix and match?

Sorry, no. The cards are prepackaged. Only the combinations shown are available.

Can I buy a single card/fewer cards?

Sorry, no. The cards are prepackaged and only sold in sets of 12. This helps us save on printing and administration costs, and ensures that more of your money goes directly to the work you want to support.
